Speed and other features

It has been a while since the last post. There has been a lot of work done in the lab to bring more goodies your way.

SpeedFirst thing is that we’re finally live with our new Windows snapshot engine that we call the “Shot worker”. In the past we could not support pages with scrolling backgrounds and “sticky” menus. Now you’re all welcome! We do not scroll pages anymore, but take one immediate snapshot. The side effect: it has improved our speeds in rendering large pages – so that we can serve more of you faster!

Second new feature is the capability to delay the snapshot. If you have something in the webpage that requires a bit more loading time or you want to see the second stage of an animation then you can find it under “other options”.

We are very grateful for all the feedback sent our way and we are listening! Our science department has updated the algorithm to detect the differences. We now are even more visual in showing you the differences when there are a lot of discrepancies on the page. We’ll be doing a new blog post about a research paper on how our tool was compared to a team of professional layout testers.

Next week we hope to go from test to live with a new milestone: iPad shot worker – so we’re setting the foot into the mobile area. But that one is done, when it’s done!
